[Azores, Portugal – August 2025] — In the Portuguese Azores, known as the "Pearl of the Atlantic," a blue revolution of tranquility and the future is underway with the launch of the TERRA AZUL™ electric boat. This electric workboat, meticulously crafted by Dutch shipyard Tideman Boats, is powered by a powerful yet silent WAVE 300 electric outboard engine, powering Portugal's first high-performance electric touring boat, the TERRAZUL EVØ, as it zips across the azure waters of the Azores.

This milestone project marks a significant step towards sustainable marine tourism in one of Europe's most ecologically rich regions. The electric boat is powered by a 300-horsepower WAVE 300 electric outboard system equipped with HEDB 125 high-energy-density batteries, providing three to six hours of clean, efficient operation on a single charge. The Smart Captain intelligent control system provides real-time vessel status, enhancing safety and controllability during on-water operations.

Since its founding on March 2, 2001, TERRA AZUL, a leading whale watching tour operator, has been committed to promoting responsible ecotourism. By replacing traditional fuel engines with electric boats, eliminating noise and pollution, TERRA AZUL is protecting fragile marine ecosystems and wildlife. "We are making history, proving that innovative sustainable development and exceptional tourism experiences can coexist harmoniously, paving the way for marine conservation," said Miguel Cravinho, Co-founder and COO of TERRA AZUL. Filipe Sousa, COO of TERRA AZUL, added, "This electric boat is the result of our commitment to innovation while respecting and protecting our unique environment. We aim to ensure the beauty and tranquility of the Azores will be enjoyed by future generations, free from the noise pollution associated with traditional fuel engines." "We are honored to power the first 300-horsepower, high-performance electric boat in the Portuguese Azores, replacing the noise and exhaust of traditional engines with a quiet, sustainable water travel experience," said Alex Dong, CEO of ExploMar.

Bruno Tideman, CEO of Tideman Boats, said: "The combination of HDPE hull and electric propulsion system is the most sustainable combination for ecologically sensitive areas. It has low carbon emissions, does not age, is 100% recyclable and does not require antifouling paint."

The launch of this electric boat embodies ExploMar's vision for sustainable development in ecologically sensitive areas and tourist destinations worldwide. As it quietly sails through the Azores, we hope it will serve as a powerful signal, guiding others to embrace the electric revolution in water transportation and protect our shared blue planet.
